Nope. The timing of the hunt this year didn’t mesh well with a lot of the schedules of many of our team members (a lot of us are going to Dragon Con and PAX Prime in a couple weeks, someone is off at GenCon this week, a lot of us are cosplayers working on projects for those cons, and general day jobs + money things etc etc) so we skipped it this year. Next year? or the following year? maybe again….
But we know a couple other people this year and we all read the list so good luck to the other GISHWHES teams this year as your hunt wraps up :)
This is me and my dog, Chase. As you can see, he is not the cutest dog in the world. He’ll never be internet famous. He’ll never successfully roll over on command or ever participate in a game of fetch.
But he’s my dog. My precious, wonderful, sweet dog. He means everything to me. Five years ago some people were giving away mutts at a farmer’s market. I’d never particularly liked dogs. I was downright afraid of most of them. But I picked up that tiny runt puppy backed into a corner of the box, and it was love.
I’ve struggled with severe depression my entire life. Chase helped me. He’s always helped me. He was my unfailing companion, always there to lend an ear or a paw. I don’t know where I’d be without him. He’s given me purpose. I miss him when I’m away from home. There isn’t a day that goes by that he doesn’t make me laugh.
I see these posts sometimes. I’ve reblogged them and helped when I could, but I never thought I’d be writing one. Yet, here I am. Chase has always had a bad back. He’s had his grumpy days. But now, he’s injured his spine. There’s nerve damage. I am still not sure how he did it. Sunday night he was fine, running and jumping as usual. Monday morning he wouldn’t move. He tried to crawl to me and I was horrified to realize that he couldn’t use his back legs.
Chase is currently paralyzed due to the damage in his spine. He’s in pain.
I rushed him to the vet and she tried everything she could, but he isn’t responding to treatment. She just told me that he either needs to have surgery, or he’ll need to be put down. The surgery ballparks at $5,000 dollars. I don’t have that. I just had to get a credit card to get a tooth fixed. I am living paycheck to paycheck and supporting my family. I don’t have the money.
Chase is all I have. Even as I sat in my car in the parking lot of the vet’s office and cried my eyes out, he nuzzled my face and licked my tears. He’s the sweetest dog. I love him with all my heart and now he might die because I don’t have any money.
I know times are tough right now. I know terrible things are happening in the world. I know that me and my dog are just a tiny blip on the radar, but I’m asking you, please. If there is anything you can do to help, it would mean the world to me. If you could donate a dollar or two or reblog this post, you’d be helping me save my best friend. I’d do anything to save his life, and step one is asking for your help.
Without @alovething, we could not have done a lot of what we did on the hunt! We love her very much and would be heartbroken if she could not help her puppy out. Help a (Sc)AVENGER and we will be eternally grateful! Or signal boost if you can! Every little bit helps <3
[IMAGE] Hurricane Item - Draw or paint a picture of Miss Jean Louis riding a school bus like a horse as it flies off a cliff into a volcano. There can be no passengers and she must have a dialogue bubble above her head that says something she would definitely say at this moment.
I think we can all agree that regeener has superb artistic bus-into-volcano vision.

[VIDEO] Create a video of a mock news show (realistic set) where you are at a desk and announce that GISHWHES has taken over the world and what that means for everyone. The more realistic the set/video the more points.
